Many rival business owners leave comments on blogs that talk about their products or services. They use a variety of strategies to create negative comments that are not genuine. If a business owner that is victim of these attacks gets seen as placing these fake comments, they will get spotted as spam that goes against Googles guidelines. It is possible then where Google can report the victim business to the likes of the BBB, where, if suspended from using that URL then that business website can suffer.To avoid getting banned from a URL then the business would need to try to get the comments removed or to counter the negative comments with good reviews.
There are many factors that can contribute to this problem. For instance, you could accidentally spam a URL and then the next day you leave an extremely negative comment that is attached to that URL. On the other hand, if you are commenting on a business related blog then the likelihood is that other people are going to read the blog and then leave a comment about it. That means that they can link your URL back to your website and this will increase your SEO ranking.
